Hi, thanks :) I think the reason I managed to loose lots is because I was already in the mindset and routine of exercising. I'm assuming the weight loss will slow down once my body gets use to the drug. I'm taking a break from the gym today, to get uni work done. But I'll be back tomorrow.

Current weight (29 may): 74.7kg

Feeling a little disappointed have only lost 3kgs and I am going into my 4th week now. They say the bigger you are the faster you lose. Which is obviously not true in my case for some reason. I have noticed a change in my clothes which is reassuring. Is anyone else having the same results, no change on the scale but in your clothes?
I have been sticking to a low gi diet, drinking tons of water and started exercising so am baffled. Is it possible to lose centimetres without actually seeing the scale go down?

HEIGHT- 173cm
WEIGHT- 120 kg
Duromine start date- 29/05/2012 @ 4am
(set alarm on to take duromine to avoid any insomnia or lack of sleep as others have written they experienced these symptoms)
I have been married for almost 8 years now and since my husband and I decided to start a family, I have been detected with PCOS(polycystic ovarian syndrome) which has my journey to be pregnant a long and emotionally tormenting.

Since January 2011 I already had one failed IUI and 1 failed IVF.

All this time I have been told by doctors to loose weight but many attempts and my psychological depression has made it impossible for even shed an inch.

I have now been prescribed by my IVF specialist and hope it really helps me reduce weight before my next IVF attempt in August.

I would like to know your thoughts if you have PCOS or similar IVF treatment with morbid obesity.

I desperately want to be pregnant and can't weight to start a family of my own. I don't know how I am going to handle myself if I have another negative IVF outcome.

Duromine Day1: I woke at 4 am to take duromine. Whole day went well. Felt thirsty throughout the day a bit more than usual but it was not extreme. No other symptoms and had a good nights sleep.

Duromine Day2: I woke at 4 am to take duromine. Its 11am now. No symptoms but on my way to work felt a bit hot and thirsty. Nothing major and normal now.

Did your doctor advise you to exercise as well? If so, thats your best bet of seeing results quicker. I delved into the gym with lots of cardio workouts and I've seen quick results which just motivates me more. Good luck, I hope your IVF works out for you!

I've just finished day 5 and I no longer have insomnia, but I still have the dry mouth thing. I haven't been to the gym in two days, but I've still lost a bit of weight (literally, a minuscule amount). I think if I was working out, I would have lost more. So my advice, exercise if you want to see good results!! But take a day or two off sometimes to let your body recover.

Current Weight (30th May): 74.6kg.
Total time on duromine: 5 days.
Total weight loss since starting Duromine: 3.4kg

Day 7:

I've been really busy with uni so I haven't had a chance to go to the gym in 3 days, but I just weighed myself at the doctors office and I've lost weight since yesterday! Could be the scales are different though. Going to go to the gym today!

Current weight (1 june): 73kg

Total weight loss since starting duromine: 5kg

I can't believe I've lost 5kg in a week! Most of it happened when I exercised, so I really need to do more everyday.

Doctor did advice to exercise but I am so busy with work can't make enough time. But I think you are right. Its been 1week but my shift has not shifted at all. I have no side affect other than dried mouth in the morning and also I expected my appetite to go down, which isn't the case as well. I am on 15mg. I wonder if I should speak to the doctor to increase my dose.

Day 10

4th June. - Sorry I havent updated in a while, but I haven't lost much weight since the 1st of June. I've lost 1kg. I haven't been to the gym (Uni assignments/exam time). Can't wait til its over, and then I can go to the gym everyday! So here are my stats..

Current Weight (4th June): 72kg
Total time on duromine: 10 days.
Total weight loss since starting Duromine: 6kg.

I really need some new jeans, coz my current ones are quite loose. But I don't want to buy new clothes til I finish on duromine, because I still have weight to loose! My doctor says I need to be between 60kg-65kg. That's when I'll splurge on new clothes!!

I'm on 15mg too. The doctor didn't want to give me more because I was already going to the gym at least twice a week. Maybe you should talk to your doc, and see if he/she will bump you up. But he/she might tell you to do the 15mg course, and if nothing has changed, then will bump you up to 30mg.

Well done Swann.
6kg in 10 days is fantastic.
Keep us posted

Amazing effort!! Yes, keep us posted! :)

Hey CL,
WHat the latest???? havnt heard from you in a while.

Thanks so much guys :) Glad this forum is somewhat active and people post their stories, coz I find them a good read!

Day 13

7th June - I haven't done any exercise or weighed myself since 4th of June because of uni. No idea what I am right now. I haven't slept very well in the past 3 days. I don't know if its the duromine, or the stress from assessments (I've been editing film on my computers for 8+ hours straight for the past 3 days). I fall asleep at 12, and will wake up at 4am and cannot fall back asleep til maybe 6am-7am. Then I have to get up soon after.

I've been taking the duromine with breakfast at about 8-9am and its been ok. But should I start taking it earlier? Say at 4-5am when I get woken up?

A busy lifestyle is sometimes really hard. I know how you feel there!! I take mine between 4- 5am and by 6 I feel great.I then find the engery at 6:30 to do my exercise. Dont get yourself down cause your working/studying really hard.

I lay in bed and think its too cold but i say to myself JFDI= Just F***ing Do It.. lol hope this helps xx

Very pleased to say that I have finally seen the scale budge  whoohoooo
I dont know why but my body hit a plateau, luckily its over for now.
Just finished my 5th week and have lost a total of 6.5 kgs.

Only 16.5kgs to go. Been losing a little over a kg a week, which is good enough for me.
Excited to see how the rest of this month goes, very motivated now.

Would love to hear any ideas you ladies have for healthy warm meals now for winter??

My sleeping has gone back to normal now after Ive finished all assignments! Unfortunately I was SOOOOO tired that I slept in til midday today, and then by 3PM I realised I hadn't taken my pill. I didn't want to take it at that time, coz Id be up all night.

Day 17:

11 June - With no exercise, I'm stuck on the same weight. No gain, no loss. I have been eating the same but drinking less water. I have set myself calories and I haven't gone over them too often. Busy lifestyle is hard. No wonder so many people have a hard time losing weight! The weather is making is hard to go out to exercise as well. Go away rain!

Current Weight (11th June): 72kg
Total time on duromine: 17 days.
Total weight loss since starting Duromine: 6kg.

Kyra,

I bought the weight watchers cook book and cook out of that, tells how many cals etc. I cook it for my partner and he has no idea :)

I've been on Duromine for almost 3 months and lost 3 kg each month. But I had terrible side effects and stopped the treatment.
Now I'm on Reductil 15mg (for 6 weeks) and I do feel better. I've lost 6kg in 1.5 month and do not feel any discomfort or side effect.
Instead I feel very energetic and full. And I do not do any effort at all.

Hi there,

I've been using Reductil for 4 months now and it works great :)

I've read it's more effective if combined with some exercises.

And that's true enough, I go to gym twice a week and I lost about 14 kg... in only 3 months!
