• ☝️A newly developed meal plan for people taking Duromine is available now❗️ With a proper diet, you can lose TWICE as much weight 📉!
I decided to post on this thread for others to read, but also for myself to know! I started taking duromine about halfway through 2010 and lost about 6 kilos all up and kept it off. I probably lost about 10 but kept 6 off which was great. I then got a bit lazy again and have almost put it all on. I know for a fact it's because I have been eating crappy and not exercising. I have finally decided enough is enough. I weigh about 78 kilos but didn't want to weigh myself at the start and I'm not going to. I was obsessed with seeing how much weight I lost everyday and now that's not the way I'm going to look at it. I would ultimately like to get to low 60s so fingers crossed! I'm now on day 2. Day 1 was ok, I ate no breakfast but unfortunately there was a morning tea and I ate 2 small pieces of cake (completely regretted it).

Major dry mouth which I had last time but I find it ok because I drink loads of water, I'm a big water drinker anyway so it's fine! I ate sushi for lunch and terryaki tofu for dinner with rice, probably far too much white rice, I usually only eat brown aswell but it was an easy meal. (I don't usually eat Jap twice in one day!) I couldn't get to sleep well and I was definitely restless throughout the night. I'm not a very good sleeper as it is, so this is pretty bad but I understand it's the pills. I'm now on day 2 and felt quite sick this morning so I only drank water and had a cup of tea to fill me up. By 1pm I felt really sick and needed to go get some lunch but didn't feel like anything! I bought some strawberries(had about 5), bananas(2 smallish ones) a green apple (had half) and an orange (had half) and made it into a fruit salad. It was the perfect thing for me to eat, I find on duromine I actually feel loads better when I eat, I feel like it's what helps you loose weight in a sense because your body has something to start burning up. I really really don't want to not eat the whole time and ruin my metabolism even more!

So this time it's about changing my habits rather than just losing weight quickly. One thing is sometimes I feel soooo tired, I'm worried I'm not going to have the energy to go for a workout or anything. I have pilates booked in for tomorrow (I started last week doing one day a week) going to get some walks in and also some swimming. I have a 20 minute zumba workout dvd at home which I like doing because it's quite quick but you can put in as much or as little as you want. Everyday I'll change it up as I get bored easily. I'm also a smoker and find I smoke HEAPS on duromine, much like if I was actually on speed. I shall keep this updated so let me know your stories too 

Just started and smoking like a chimney

It's pretty crazy hey, makes you smoke so much! I'm down to 74kg now and to be honest need to exercise more. The eating is ok, I use my fitness pal app to track my calories but yeah definitely need to exercise more to get it off!

Hello Dear! Welcome back on this complicated weight loss path! I know it's quite difficult to change some habits in you, but I think this time you started great and your results would be much better than last time. I wish you to move on and lose weight stably.

^^^^^
So this is how my weight loss has been going for me so far, i was stuck on 100.9 and 101.0 kilos, It was so frustrating going back & forth which resulted in me not having that willpower & boost to get up and exercise to get under 100kilos (which was my mini goal).
I thought how could i not lose weight when i barely eat anything, then i did abit of researching on the net and discovered i was doing it all wrong, to lose weight i would have to boost my metabolism by EATING HEALTHY.

I brought boxes of up & go's just incase i didn't feel like eating along with other nick nacks and healthy foods, i didn't give up and pushed myself to give it a shot again & happy to say i'm now a under 100kilos, weighting in at 99kilos, yeah i no not much but atleast i'm under, it sure does feel great even tho its a small amount weightloss. I'm starting to notice that my engagement ring is becoming loose, my face isn't so big and my stomach in getting smaller. I'm so excited to reach my weight goal, FROM 120kilos TO NOW 99kilos.

Now that i have reached my goal in weight i'm setting up another, to lose another 10kilos in less then 8 weeks. Seeing my weight on scales is such a confident boost for me, i never thought i would get this far. Metermine helped me so much and i really couldn't have done it without it and also the support of family & friends. :)

Congratulations! You look great.

Can I ask how many calories your eating a day?

thanks Caragh87 :), Well i try to aim between 1700 and 2100 calories a day, if i can that its. but lately i have been drinking about 4 Up & Go's drinks a day which is 760 calories, light snacks through out the day & a healthy dinner - meats with veges (And unlimited drinking water because it has no calories), All up i probably eat around 1200 calories if i can. Actually i don't really count what i eat, i just make sure i eat healthy and exercise along with a tablet of metermine (mine is 40mg) but what i just said is a rough estimate. :)

Thank you for the pictures, MissMoo! It really helps to understand what you've achieved and how it goes!
My opinion: the difference is huge! Good job, dear.

Hi guys,

I'm extremely excited to be back on Duromine soon (if my GP will oblige)!

My Story:

I had a total Thyroidectomy in 2011 and since then picked up a whopping 40 kg's!! Sickening I know! I've been on anti-depressants since the birth of my first born, he is turning 9 this year.

Last year I went to my doc at wits end and she prescribed Duromine 30mg. I was on it for 3 months... did not loose a kilo! Scouts Honour! NOTHING! BUT I then went to a different GP to find out why. He told me you cannot be on Wellbutrin XL (anti-dep) and expect to loose any weight with Duromine as this is a direct clash of chemicals. That put me into a deeper depression as I thought well then I will never be able to loose weight ever again!

That was till about 2 months ago... I just had enough of this weight issue and decided screw Wellbutrin and this depression! I need to loose weight and fast! I'm 1.65m short and weigh 106kg! And being this overweight is making me more depressed than my actual depression. So I was weaned off of all anti-dep meds and I've now been 'clean' for a whole MONTH! Very very proud of myself must say!

So I have now decided to go see my GP (the one who said I can't be on both at the same time) and hoping, praying he will prescribe 30mg so that I can start this awesome and exciting journey.

I've also decided to join a gym even if I start out just walking / riding bike etc. I'll take it a day at a time! ;)

So I went to go see my GP, and he had noooo problem to prescribe Duromine 30mg!!

I just had my first one! I'm hoping and praying this is going to work for me! It must...

Here's to the first day of the rest of my life!!!

Yay, good luck. I was 110kg and am 1.53 metres tall have got myself down to 80 with 25kg to go. All the best. I'm on the 40mg been on it two months and lost 12kg in that time.

Hello ForeverAngie!

It's great you decided to choose among those pills for depression and weight loss pills. It is important to make the first step and reconsider what's on the first place for you!
Personally I saw NO depressed mood in everything you've written here:eek: You seem to be a very cheerful person, IMHO.
Anyway, I say WELCOME to our weight loss family, my name is Kate and I'll do my best to support you and other ladies in this hard journey! Good luck!

Hi Kate and Gemz,

Thanks so much for the welcome  I feel loved!

Wanted to come on to give a quick update... Day 4 for me and I feel amazing! I joined a gym! YEAH! Eating healthy (when I remember to eat eek... working on that) and just feel all round better than I've felt in a looooong time!

My doctor tested me for IR and Adrenal Fatigue, I'll have the results tomorrow! I've been wondering about that for about 2 years, and finally just decided to get everything checked, so I can start this journey FRESH! With as little obstacles as possible!

That's it from me for now :p hope you guys have a great day!

Can't wait to weigh myself on Friday!!!

PS: Sorry Gemz, still wanted to say WELL DONE on your loss! WOW! That's so motivating!!

Hey ForeverAngie

Where in SA are you? I am in JHB. Just joined the forum seconds ago - going to introduce myself in a moment :)

Hey, no not yet. I am tossing around and around in my mind whether to start on it or not. I posted an intro post about it. Really a bit paranoid, but also need to a bit of a jump start (after already losing 15kg last year).

Update from me:

Starting weight 106kg
Current weight 102kg!!
Loss so far 4kgs and all round lost 20cm!

I'm so glad I managed to loose 4kgs in 2 weeks... Even though 3 days during those 2 weeks I had a cold and did not take my D!
I've been eating super healthy NO CHEATING... and hit the gym every second day! I'm getting better at that! Ha!

Loving the feeling of being healthy not so bloated and energetic!

I'm just not as dry mouthed thirsty anymore... what's up with that? Try to force water down but I need a thirst!! Help please :)

Hi Guys, :)

I've just joined this awesome forum after browsing around for the past few days. I'm so glad to find a group of people who aren't slamming this method of weight loss.

I'm 43 and first started using Duromine about 18 months ago. Once I got beyond the first few days of side effects, I started experiencing good success. I lost 9.5 kg in the first two weeks. I knew that was a tad drastic and I became a bit of a walking zombie due to lack of sleep. Exhaustion soon kicked in and I stopped taking the pills, for what was to only be a few days. I really needed some rest. Then some unrelated health issues arose, which required ongoing tests and investigation and I was unable to start back on the pills when I had planned. I was off them for around 6 months and I also quit smoking. The weight piled back on. Some of my health issues were put down to hormones. Perimenopausal and I was a bit of a mess. Back on Duromine I went. This time was a completely different experience and I failed to shed any weight. I wasn't sleeping and had no energy, so I quit them. I tried again a few months later - same experience, with no luck. I'm still experiencing the hormone dramas but realised I can no longer allow them to control me. I had a script from back in October of last year which I hadn't filled because my doctor said my blood pressure was a little too high. My son is a nurse, so he has been checking my BP for me and I decided last week to have the script filled. I started taking them on 27th March. To date I have lost 2.8kg. Certainly not as fast as the first time, but probably more ideal. This time I am managing to sleep. Not sure why things are different in this regard. I still get the headaches and dry mouth, boundless energy most days and zero appetite. Unlike last time, I am making sure I eat properly this time. Well, as good as I can. As most of you know, it's difficult to eat when you have no appetite. Breakfast is usually a protein shake, smoothie or weetbix. Lunch is a ham or chicken and salad sandwich on wholemeal bread. Dinner is salad or veg, sometimes with a piece of meat. I should eat more meat but find it very unappealing lately. Snacks are usually a piece of fruit or yogurt.

I know I need to try and make myself eat properly, otherwise I won't be able to sustain any weight loss when I stop Duromine. Re enforcing good habits while using the drug hopefully should set me in good stead for when I am finished the course. It can be hard at times because my hubby works away from home during the week and I can very easily become extremely lazy with food. It's much easier to grab a bag of chips or some frozen rubbish, than to bother cooking for myself. This is one major hurdle I need to overcome.

Exercise is another habit I need to form. I really don't like exercise at all! Isn't that just awful? I don't mind walking, but I usually fizzle out after a few weeks of it. Again, pure laziness. I recently bought an AeroPilates. Boy, does that thing get me moving! I'm OK with the resistance work on it, but the cardio work is a real killer. I am sore all over. It claims to burn more calories than walking or using a treadmill and I can see why. Hopefully it won't take me too long to get used to it. i am determined to use it because it wasn't cheap and I don't want it becoming a dust collector like my treadmill was.

So that's pretty much my story. I love reading all your posts, success stories and hints and tips. Hopefully I might have some of my own to offer in time. :)

My start weight: 89.9
Current weight: 87.1
Goal weight: 65

Hi wenchy!
Well, that's a story! I mean so many fails and finally you've found your ideal way. Who knows why the pills work different this time? I think something has changed in your body, that's all.
I'll skip the part with your therapy, because obviously you do great so far, and move to exercising part. Though I cannot understand how people may not like exercises, since I can't live without moving, but we're all different.
I started to workout during my weight loss journey with duromine. I hired a personal coach so that my exercises were regular and correct. I think also, that personal coach is a good motivator & discipline. Even if I felt lazy and didn't want to go to gym, I knew he would wait me there, so.. Sense of responsibility LOL.
I know, it's kinda "expensive pleasure" , but worth it trust me. If your budget allows, you should try. Pros: coach will give you only exercises that fit you most; he/she will monitor your state (if you are sick for example, you may skip the workout or do some light exercises); motivate & encourage you so that you can achieve greater results.
Cons: high cost, strict schedule of workouts
I'm not propagandizing you this way of exercising, but sharing my experience only.

Best wishes! Kate
