Duromine and Health Issues

@Amanda30 - I hear you about breakfast!! I have had to basically retrain myself as I never ever ate it either.

I think the protein drink would definitely help. I did this and and started off using it as my breakfast, then added in (food I had to chew) slowly.

I found making things like oats with nuts and yoghurt - the night before (and refrigerated) also helped me be more prepared, as I had something ready to just grab and eat.

This link here; Link Removed. Has some great breakfast recipes that aren't egg based (Its American based, but you can get similar products here in Aust) :)

Thanks Rava.

Well Day 5 update: down 5kg to 105kg... confused because I weighed my self 24 hours ago (4:30pm) and I was 109kg.

Last night around 2/3am I woke up drenched in sweat so had a shower and back to bed. Woke up at 7:30am and weighed myself 105kg... did I loose 4kg in sweat had a day at work, drinking water and lots of walking (hospitality life yay) came home expecting to go back to 109kg... nope still 105kg.

Well done!!

Weight will always be different depending on the time of day. If you weigh in the evening, you're likely to be heavier on the scale. True weight is reflected in the morning right after you pee.

I hope the sweating was a once off for you! Good luck moving forward :)

My fault Ashleigh I LOVE to wrap myself up at night except last night I turned my electric blanket on and fell asleep before I turned it off! Weighed myself again just before and still 105kg brand new scales so hope they are correct

Well I’m in Week 3 and still 105kg.

Any ideas to boost the weight loss again?

Hey Amanda,

What have you done over the last week? Any changes to diet or exercise? Are you close to your cycle?

If things haven't changed there, its good to keep in mind that some people don't lose weight in week 2, 3 or 4. The drug works differently for everyone. For me, I actually picked up 400g in week 3, and had no changes - still good diet and exercise.

Maybe take a day off Duromine, and start it again to see if that kick starts anything for you! Alternatively, you could always discuss a higher dosage with your doctor :)

I took the weekend off Duromine as I wasnt going to be as active as during the week (non physical job on weekends). I have the implanon so I dont get periods. I have had no change in diet or exercise so going to do a bit extra this week. Although, I took my pill at 7am this morning and I have dry mouth, I didnt have that last week so might see some changes again. Fingers Crossed, would love to get under 100 - ideally 95 before New Years.

Have stopped weighing myself for now but decided to do my measurements.
Down 5cm from my belly button
Down 6cm on my bust
Down 7cm from natural waist

Just goes to show it’s not all in the scales

Hi all,
I'm on day 5. Messed up a bit on Saturday night when I accidentally took a duromine instead of my antidepressants. Ended up sleeping an hour and started work for a 10 hour shift. :joy:

I believe I've adjusted well. Thankfully I haven't had mood swings or anxiety. And I love not obsessing about food. I love being full after a meal.

the only thing that's worrying me is my fear of exercising with my heart rate. I can get up to 160bpm and I'm scared my heart will fail.

I have a fairly active job and can usually rack up 8000-10000 steps a shift. My day one on duromine at work I did 15000 so hopefully I can ease into some more exercise soon.

Does anyone have any advice about exercise?

Thanks

Sounds like you're doing pretty well. The increased heart rate issue should settle down soon, by day 10 max. Don't push it until it gets better.
If it doesn't, you should either discuss the issue with your doctor or switch to a different regime, and take Duromine every other day to let your body cleanse off it and make sure that you can exercise.
You see, the main advice on exercising for someone, who has increased heart rate on Duromine is to start by walking. But you already walk. Let's see how it goes with the heart rate, and please, try not to mess it up again like you did on Saturday. :)
Best of luck on your journey!

Thanks April,
I won't screw up again. Lesson learned. I realised instantly and made myself throw up and called the poisons helpline. I did have an elevated heart rate, but I think that was from the anxiety of what I stupidly did and wanting to get to sleep. Never again.

It is reassuring to know that the heart rate stuff does go down. I feel slack that I'm not exercising and I'm wasting my time and money taking these pills if I'm not exercising. How else will I lose the maximum amount of weight if I don't exercise? Hopefully it'll die down in a few more days.

Thanks for all the support.

Hi, I suffer from Pcos, both my partner and I have fertility issues. I am looking at weight loss in the hope it will increase the success of ivf (already had two failed cycles). I have been doing 2 sessions a week with PT and swimming 1 day a week and healthy eating (low carb, mod protein and high healthy fat) for the past 12 weeks, but I have gained in weight and cm's This is nothing new for me as thanks to Pcos I have always struggled with weight loss and maintaining it! I had an appointment with my endocrinologist specialist yesterday who has prescribed duromine, Topamax and saxenda. Has any one tried topamax and saxenda? I have decided to take the Duromine first to see how I go and test if I get bad side effects. I'm starting on 15mg and going to start on Thursday in case I suffer bad side effects (I have from thud to Sunday off work!) My specialist also recommended I do opti fast while taking duromine. Has anyone done this before? Open to any feedback, suggestions, so's and dont's!!! TIA!

I never heard of topamax ? I'll need google that one. But heard of saxenda, there's a support page and reading through its very expensive and not much weight loss at all and side effects to - Fits mine can work for short term as a tool - not to just lose weight, but to make better choices and feel great so you can continue when off it - I think you need stop looking into diets but more lifestyle change , if you know what I mean. But Duromine is great tool to help you get there at the beginning but in long term, you will need to learn a healthy lifestyle.

I have done exactly what your endo has prescribed. My endo prescribed the same to me. I followed it meticulously and it worked really well. Just keep your faith, listen to your endo, and follow everything he tells you however hard it seems to be. It really works but you got to stay strong and follow it. Good luck. :kissing:

Hi All, it’s my first day on 30mg Duromine. My doctor said she would probably not prescribe me for over a month.
My starting weight is 90kg and height 173cm ... so I am almost 25kg over my normal weight.
I took my first dose this morning at around 4:30 and then slept like a baby till 6 am. I feel really no big difference except a bit light headedness. On the hindsight I feel I am not tired and sleepy. Lol don’t think this is supposed to happen. Anyway, my issue is that I am anyway not a big eater and with 3 kids between 4-6 years and working full time I do not have time for exercising... will this really work for me?
