One year later....

WOW! What a difference a year can make!
It has been twelve months since I made the decision to go to my GP and do something about my weight.
This is a decision I will NEVER REGRET.
I was READY and, this time, it worked.
In the past year I have learned a lot about myself and I have become so much healthier than I could have dreamed. I still have 10 kilos to get comfortably inside my healthy weight range and have managed to lose almost 40 kilos to get this far. One third of my starting weight.... GONE!!!!
I was FAT. Morbidly obese. At the doctors I weighed in at 117kg but was closer to 120 when I first decided to start to seriously lose the weight. I was squeezing myself into size 20 pants (stretchy ones). I was unhealthy and risking future health issues. My father and sister are both suffering weight related issues and I decided I did not want to head down that path. I am now comfortably in size 14 and weigh 80 kg which is overweight but no longer obese. I have so much more ENERGY to do the things I want to do and a much better attitude to life.
I have had many ups and downs. Most of the weight loss was in the first six months. The past six months has been mostly maintaining with smaller losses and letting my body catch up. I am getting ready to tackle the final 10-15 kilos.
The biggest thing that has helped me is my ATTITUDE. I was READY. I have always 'known' what I should be doing and the number of times I started a diet on a Monday only to have failed by Wednesday is huge. The Duromine allowed me to start and STICK to the plan. It helped me stay FOCUSED. It helped me to develop better habits, BUT without the DETERMINATION and correct mind set it would not have been as effective. The Duromine is just a kick start. For most of my journey I have had to do it without the D so using that time with the D to learn was important.
I believe that no ONE thing is the magic spell. It is a combination of many things that is needed to lose weight and keep it off.
  • Duromine
  • Diet
  • Exercise, movement or physical activity
  • Supplements
  • Water
  • Support - from Family, GP, this site
  • Attitude - This is the biggest one.
It has been HARD WORK.
I still have a way to go. That last 10 kilos is going to be just as difficult as the first 40. I know I can do it.
I hope that if you are reading this, you can find the combination that works for you like it has for me.

Sharon

Sharon you are an inspiration. Congratulations on your weight loss achievements. There is no doubt that you will conquer the next 10-15kg. I hope that I am as strong as you for the rest of my journey.

Congratulations, Sharon once again! It so right! I think you did more than just defeated this weight, you helped many other people to see clearly what to strive for. Such right words, such strong words! Thank you. And yes - you can do it easily, what are these 10-15kg comparing to those 40s you've already lost.
